Awards and Accomplishments

One of the factors that make a community great is the sense of community engendered by its residents through their contributions of time, money, and service. At Claire Hunter Realty, we believe in contributing to the well-being of our community by volunteering to assume leadership positions in economic development, charitable giving, and civic pride endeavors.

To that end, we have served as president of the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce for two terms, bringing its membership to the highest level in its history. We founded the Ormond Beach Leadership Program, or “Ormond Leadership”, to educate rising business men and women on the inner workings of city and county services, so they will be prepared to assume leadership roles and serve on boards and committees in the future.

The program is now in its 10th year.

Prior to that, we served on the Chamber’s Board of Directors for four years, serving on and overseeing numerous committees, including the Economic Development Committee, the Leadership Committee, the Beautification Committee, and serving as the business liaison between the Chamber and the City of Ormond Beach.

We founded the Cobb’s Corner Classic, a 5k and timed race, which became the class project for an Ormond Leadership class and raised funds for the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce and the PACE Center for Girls.
We founded the Ormond Beach Relay for Life in 2004 and chaired this American Cancer Society fundraiser for the first two years. This annual celebration of life has grown through the years and has raised thousands of dollars for the fight against cancer.

We served as the Chairman of the Board of the Volusia / Flagler Chapter of the American Cancer Society for two years. During our second year in tenure, we surpassed the $1 million fundraising mark, benefitting cancer patients through advocacy, research, education and patient services.

We served as Presenting Sponsor of the Cancer Society’s ACS 200, the organizations most prestigious society fundraiser, and subsequently chaired the event. We also organized the first “Born to be Wild” poker run fundraiser.

Claire Hunter Realty has supported the efforts of many charitable organizations, schools, and youth sports since its inception in 1981.

Among the Awards and Recognition received by Claire Hunter Realty:
Claire Hunter was honored as one of five “Most Influential Women in Business” by the Volusia / Flagler Business Report.

Claire Hunter was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by the Volusia / Flagler chapter of the American Cancer Society.

Claire Hunter was honored by the Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors as the recipient of the Community Service Award.

At Claire Hunter Realty, it is our belief that as members of a community, we are responsible not only for conducting ourselves with honesty and integrity, but for contributing to and being role models for the betterment of our community. We encourage our agents and area residents to become involved in efforts to give back to their communities. The pride and satisfaction one derives from community service cannot be understated.
